It is a four-year liberal arts college dedicated to developing students one at a time. Majors include a very well developed pre-professional studies program that emphasizes, among many others: Pre-Law, Pre-Medicine, Pre-Veterinary Science, Neuroscience, Pre-Optometry, Pre-Osteopathy, Pre-Physical Therapy, Pre-Podiatry, Pre-Dentistry, Engineering, and Entrepreneurial Studies.

The Washington and Jefferson College Equestrian Team is currently a club sport. Shamrock Stables, LLC just built a new facility, with one of its major goals being to expand the Equestrian riding program for the college. Our facility has the capacity to offer boarding for students wanting to bring their horse to school. Horses for lease and lesson horses are accessible to the students as well. One major attraction for students wishing to compete seriously is that the small size of the team improves the chance to ride at every show. This should be very appealing to the student wanting to reach Regionals and beyond. The team attends Hunt Seat shows offering flat classes and over fence classes for the schools in our Region III, Zone III.

Students riding with us have access to talent such as Carel Eijkenaar, FEI International Dressage Judge, and past coach to Greek Olympic Jumping Team Members. Mr. Eijkenaar has recently agreed to host monthly clinics at the stable, as he is our coach's coach. In all our endeavors, it is our intent to offer quality, not volume. The emphasis is on the riding, not a large equine study program. It is expected that our riders receive the individual attention necessary to achieve in the show ring, academically, and in their future careers.

Shamrock Stables, LLC would like to extend an invitation to any perspective-riding student to tour our facility, while visiting W&J's campus. Potential students are also encouraged to take a lesson with our coach at the discounted rate extended to only W&J students. Arrangements can be made to overnight student's horses, if they would like to ride in one of our clinics or have their horse evaluated by our trainer. Students in close proximity to Washington, Pa should consider entering our lesson program prior to the fall schedule. These are the specific services offered exclusively to students interested in Washington and Jefferson.
