Dressage / Riding Lessons - Private One Hour Lesson fee is $50.00. Payment can be per ride or in advance for multiple lessons. To progress, it is suggested to ride at least once a week. *See our consignment section for students interested in more practice rides between lessons.

Lessons can be taken on our school horses or owners can use their horses that are boarded at the facility or hauled-in for the day. Beginner riders through advanced competitors are equally encouraged to join our lesson program. Arrangements for very young riders can be made for instruction in half hour sessions. Also, new riders of any age may spend time learning horsemanship on the ground as part of a lesson to learn the basics of grooming and tacking.

What to wear?

For safety, all students are required to wear riding helmets, which can be provided by the stable. A hard sole shoe with a heel is best to wear when riding to keep a foot from slipping through the stirrup iron. Breeches are not required, although blue jean inseams tend to rub when riding.

What is Dressage?

The word itself is a derivative of the French verb "dresser", which means to train or school. Learning the technique of Dressage riding can be applied to the basic training of a horse for any purpose. The training is a progressive standardized classical system, which develops the horse in the areas of Relaxation, Rhythm, Balance, Straightness, Impulsion, Suppleness and Collection. Dressage is growing in popularity because of the physical benefits to the horse and the ability to achieve the harmony and union between horse and rider.

Clinics and Shows?

Students interested in competition can attend shows with our coach, Kristin Stein. The stable goes to schooling and recognized shows during the show season. Most students show their own horses, however there is limited availability to show on our school horses, as well.

Students riding with us have access to talent such as Carel Eijkenaar, FEI International Dressage Judge, and past coach to Greek Olympic Jumping Team Members. Mr. Eijkenaar has recently agreed to host monthly clinics at the stable, as he is our coach's coach. To cover the expenses incurred for travel, meals, hotel and clinic fees, each rider taking a 45 minute session with Mr. Eijkenaar will be charged $125.00 per ride. Please contact us for dates and ride times.
