Consignment / Horses For Sale

Shamrock Stables, LLC offers assistance in the sale, purchase and leasing of horses. For sales or purchases, a small percentage of the sales price of the horse is charged to assist with these services. Often horses for sale are listed on our Flickr photo page, which can be accessed by clicking on the Photo section of this site. Details about leasing are listed below.

Advice to Purchasers

Too many times clients attempt to engage in these activities without professional help. This often leads to a rider/ horse mismatch that ultimately causes lost time and expenses that could have been avoided. Advantages of having a horse evaluated with a trainer are to increase the chances the horse will perform at the level intended and that it is suited to the rider, based on temperament and ability. Once a horse has been inspected to be appropriate for the purchaser, it is also strongly recommended to have a veterinary pre-purchase exam performed to be sure the horse is medically fit, as well. After the horse is purchased, a Post-purchase exam is too late to discover obvious health problems.

Horses for Lease

There are circumstances where leasing a horse may be the best choice. For someone that has never owned a horse, leasing first can introduce the responsibilities without some of the expenses. Commitments included with horse ownership can involve shoeing expenses, veterinary costs, supplements, equipment and insurance. Riders can outgrow a horse's abilities if they want to show at a more advanced level than their own horse can perform. It makes good financial sense to engage in a lease until a rider is accomplished enough to know what level of training they need in a partner they may keep for a lifetime.

When learning to ride, leasing a horse can provide more time available in the saddle to practice the new skills learned during the lessons. In some circumstances, a student may be able to compete on a school horse, allowing a chance to try out showing without some of the expenses associated with owning a private horse.

One Half Partial Lease

Shamrock Stables, LLC offers a few horses for One Half Partial lease. In this scenario, the student pays the equivalent to ½ the board or $175.00 per month to have access to ride the horse between lessons. No other expenses are paid by the student such as shoeing, vet bills etc. However, the use of the horse has to be arranged around the lesson schedule. Conflicts with scheduling can be resolved by providing another horse for practice riding if necessary. However, an additional fee to use the horse for showing may apply.

Full Partial Lease

Our stable offers a few horses for Full Partial Lease. This arrangement consists of the student paying the equivalent to full board or $350.00 per month to have access to ride the horse between lessons. Additionally, there are no extra fees associated with showing the horse in competition. No other expenses are paid by the student such as shoeing, vet bills etc. Also, the horse would be scheduled for limited use in the lesson program, so that the student would have greater access. Conflicts with scheduling can be resolved by providing another horse for practice if necessary.

Full Lease

Typically, a Full Lease entails, that with the exception of the owner paying the insurance for the horse, the student pays for all the expenses including routine vet visits, blacksmith and full board, in addition to a lease fee. This is usually for the option to show an experienced competition horse without spending the massive purchase price. For the exclusive use of a horse to lease for the purpose of taking lessons, training and showing, our stable has a few options for the experienced rider.
